FORM AT A GLANCE: KNEELING KETTLEBELL PRESS

Mark de Grasse

Form at a Glance: Kneeling Kettlebell Press
The Kettlebell Kneeling Press is an excellent strength exercise that targets your shoulders and core. Pressing in the kneeling position, as opposed to standing, requires far greater core engagement to lift the kettlebell from the rack position.
Using one arm makes this exercise even more difficult, challenging the abdominals, obliques, and lower back muscles. As much as you may try to brace your lower back during a standing overhead press, most people will still have the tendency to overextend. The kneeling variation will make bracing your core to avoid this occurrence feel much more natural.
The Kneeling Kettlebell Press also forces you to use a lighter load, taking some stress off of an abused area of the body.
